Cowboy

Get ready to lasso some cows, cowboys and cowgirls! This western-themed online multiplication game is great for introducing this important topic in math.

To play, aim and click to lasso and catch the cows. But, watch out for the bulls! If you accidentally hit a bull, the level will start over. So, giddy up and catch the cows, which will be displayed in an array. Then, count up the cows or multiply to find the correct answer. Each level will grow more challenging with the addition of more bulls and cows moving at different speeds.

Encourage students to use repeated addition and skip counting when determining the number of cows. This helps students understand multiplication on a concrete level. For example, ask students:

  • How many cows are in each row? How many rows are there? Can you multiply to get the answer?
  • Can you add each row, one after the other (eg. 3+3=6, 6+3=9)?
  • Can you use skip counting to count the cows (eg. 4,8,12)?

With this approach, you can use this beginner multiplication game as a fun and engaging way to introduce multiplication. Simply project your screen and walk your students through the various ways to determine the number of cows in the array. Students will love taking turns lassoing a cow! Afterward, students can play the game individually for extra practice.

Mission Multiply

Are you looking for a fun way to learn multiplication facts? Bring out this fun space-themed game to make learning the times tables exciting and engaging.

Here’s how to play Mission Multiply. Your goal is to destroy the meteors by shooting them with a missile. First, aim at a meteor by moving your rocket to the left or right using the arrows. Then, shoot a missile by selecting the correct answer to the multiplication equation written on the meteor. When you hit a meteor, you’ll earn points that are added to your score at the top of the screen. But, you’d better hurry! If the meteor hits your rocket, the game is over. If a meteor hits the bottom of the screen, the points will be subtracted from your score. You must maintain a score above zero to keep playing.

Mission multiply is a great game to play in small groups or to use as individual work in a math center. You might even assign mission multiply as homework! Once students master their multiplication facts, they’ll be ready to move on to more complex multiplication problems, division, and more. This times table game adds some pizazz to multiplication practice so that students are engaged and excited to learn. Plus, as the game advances, students must answer faster and faster to keep up, which reinforces fluency.

Math Test

It can be tricky to evaluate students’ knowledge of basic math operations. Sometimes, students copy each other’s answers. Or, some students are at different levels of mastery than others. Our math tests make it easy to meet each student where they are and evaluate their progress.

To get started, choose the type of operation you want to test and the range of numbers you’d like to use in the operations. For example, to test basic times tables, choose “Multiplication” and “1 to 9”. Selecting “1-19” will involve multiplying two-digit numbers. Then, a unique set of 16 problems are displayed on the screen. Students select each problem and choose the correct answer from four possible answers. When they’re ready, they select “done” and see their test results. Any wrong answers will be highlighted in white, and students can click on the problem to see the correct answer.

As students learn more, you can slowly give them harder and harder assessments and track their progress. Plus, students can complete the tests on their own as practice!
